  • ASSume too much? Here’s a TEST!

ASSume too much?? “In what direction is this bus traveling??”

Assuming is a lot like monkey life. Hanging from tree limbs a hundred feet off the ground with the mental assurance that you picked the safest limb for hanging out on. Life is full of assumptions….ask any divorce lawyer. The scariest people I know are the ones who want you to assume they’re right in all they say…..the politicians, clergy, garage mechanics and your 13 year old daughter.

We don’t seem to be able to get through life without making assumptions…..and maybe we can’t. I think it’s called trust.  So, if you were right in one particular assumption, then you were a wise and perceptive individual, but if you were wrong, then you’re a dumb-ass hanging from a cracking tree limb a hundred feet off the ground.

In 2006, a series of visual test were given to pre-schoolers all over the United States and Canada. One picture (posted above) made news. The kids were all shown the above picture and asked the same question, “What direction is the bus going?” 90% of the pre-schoolers said the bus was traveling to the left. When asked why did they think the bus was traveling to the left they answered: “Because you can’t see the door to get on the bus.” 66% of adults assumed the bus was going right. I assume that’s why most adults won’t take a bus.
