  • Please help!! Xanga support or friends……PLEASE!

I am unable to connect with Xanga help and I’m pulling my hair out with bugs. I’ve been unable to connect to Xanga for the last five days, much less sign on. I used IE and Chrome with no success. Finally I got on today, but half my commenter and friend’s pics don’t load and twice my site froze on me and everything else on there acts unsteady. If support staff reads this or a friend with advice is out there, please help me out…. Thanks, Charlie

  • Xanga said that the are working on it ISP problem. The have to contact each ISP company and get it working.

Many are getting back on–it will take time. I am not a tech guy at all and My ISP could be the wrong letters, but they are trying to fix it.

Wednesday, 18 July 2012Update on ISP issues

Hello all.  I wanted to give an update on an issue we’ve been getting
reports about.  Some ISPs have been unable to connect to the Xanga
servers over the past day or two, which has made it difficult for those
subscribers to connect with our servers.  The Xanga servers are 100%
working normally, but some ISPs just aren’t able to find us. :(

    We’ve
been working to resolve this issue, and believe we are getting closer
to a fix.  The good news is that we’re making progress on resolving this
problem! The bad news is that we have to work with various ISPs around
the world and get them to do stuff. So it’s taking some time.

    I’m
not sure if the affected users will see this post, so thus far, we have
just been emailing back the handful of users who have written in (we’ve
gotten about 20 emails so far). But I wanted to write ths update
anyway, because many users have reported that Xanga works for them at
work but not at home (or vice versa).

    Because only some users are
affected, this has been a very difficult issue for us to track down and
reproduce — let alone to solve.  Our traffic patterns showed that
certain ISPs have been affected; for example, Xanga is down for me in
New York (I’m on Time Warner) but works in our office and on my Verizon
iPhone.  As a result of the affected ISPs, yesterday visitors were down
by a single-digit percentage.  We’re working with network and ISP
providers to resolve the issue ASAP.

    To all of our affected
users: we’re working to get the site back up for you ASAP! If you have
Xanga friends who can’t access the site, can you email them the text of
this post?  Also, spread the word to try out our free mobile apps (Android, iPhone) and see if that helps at all?

    Thanks!

    John

  • You’re not the only one with the problem. Xanga team already notified us about the problem and they are working on fixing it.

  • @ShimmerBodyCream - You’re a doll! Thanks from the bottom of my heart for doing this….Charlie

  • @ANVRSADDAY - Damn, guess I’ll have to read a book….and drink a beer.

  • You sound Like i did and then got on an hour or so ago and was just ticked off they didn’t at least post on their twitter account!   I use Fire Fox and it works the best. I also have the internet provider that is giviing the most trouble with IP’s connecting. Dang, the guy that owns the major tv station i cant think of the provider now.My puter has been freezing too since this started. I even made a blog in blogger for something to do. If you are lonesome and still cant get on after about 5pm east coast time, i’ll be happy to chat with ya over there… even put a chat box in…. desperate! :)   email is cjhuntsyou@gmail.com. http://cjs-openjournal.blogspot.com/  It kept me busy and i learned a few things.
Right now this is my only way of socializing.
Hubby bought a work car and i have to go with him to get it about 50 minutes away. We should be back by 5pm.  I’m not too confident  it won’t happen again, and need something else to do anyway….
The staff said it was this particular Internet provider that gave the most problems with the Isp numbers. Cant believe I’ve got it and cant remember what its called. OH TEd Turner owns it.
Some of those who have the good cell phones have been able to get on that way, if i had one like that, i can’t see it good enough to make it worth my time!  I will check when i get back, but if for some reason i can’t get back on here, i’ll be at the other site.

  • Hope this gets sorted for you soon. It sounds like quite a few people are experiencing this problem on here. I haven’t had a problem at all. Good luck!
